A Hospice Graduate — Morris’s story...
Morris is 88 years young and a former aerospace engineer and pilot. He lived an active and fulfilling life but a variety of severe illnesses and hospitalizations prompted him to move into assisted living. He chose SummerField Suites. During his last hospitalization, doctors gave him a choice: a feeding tube or hospice. He chose Hospice. Both his choices turned out to be the best.
After three months of excellent care with Hospice of Marion County and support from his significant other, Morris gained back the 20 pounds he had lost and was released from hospice, as he was no longer terminally ill.
Morris still lives happily at SummerField Suites, enjoying the food, friends and activities. In fact, his 1,000-piece puzzle is finished and will be displayed at the facility.
Special Friends — Dot’s story...
I feel like SummerField Suites is my second home. Visiting my dearest friend daily for the past year and a half has given me many opportunities to observe the people, the service and the surroundings. I am continually impressed with the patience and care the residents receive. And the local groups who give their time entertaining them, putting on a smile for those not so fortunate. The StoneCrest Ladies Craft Club deserves a special “hurrah” for the seasonal theme-related centerpieces for the dining room tables.
SummerField may not be the newest or largest facility in the area, but it is the fact that it is so intimate and immaculate that makes it so special, just like a home—my second home where I feel like part of a family.
More Comments from our Families and Residents
I have never been so busy in my life! It is hard to decide which activity to go to, because Julie makes everything so much fun. When she dresses up the pets, I think they enjoy it as much as we do.
Mom was so lonely and we were all very concerned about her being alone in a big house. Now she is happy as can be in her neat apartment – just steps from lovely meals in the dining room or playing bingo with her new friends. Thank you, SummerField Suites, for providing us with peace of mind and Mom with the biggest piece of pie!
I love my new home! When my kids moved me here from up north, I didn’t know what to expect. Now I have my own private space and the great people here just renovated my kitchenette and my bathroom. Although I eat all my meals in the dining room with my new “family” I enjoy making coffee in my new Keurig and watching TV in the mornings. This is just like home – only better!
